Trailer Trash and Flyboy

ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Katie Couric and all the other network anchors, Oprah Winfrey, USA Today and every big city newspaper, Time Magazine, Newsweek, just about every pollster organization, and almost every single Hollywood celebrity are all in the tank for Barack Obama; but John McCain is the privileged Republican elitist who ostensibly represents the corrupt Washington establishment even though he has repeatedly antagonized his party and the base by reaching across the aisle compromising on policy after policy giving the Democrats continuous legislative victories.

While the worst scandal that can be attributed to John McCain is his involvement as one of the Keating Five Senators accused of corruption (where he was cleared of wrong-doing, but criticized for bad judgment) the laundry list of shady characters close to Barack Obama is awe-inspiring.

While main stream media personalities lament Sarah Palin’s lack of experience, they act indignant when conservatives point out her résumé boasts more accomplishment and executive experience than does Barack Obama’s.

Since the left can’t get off the ground with those attacks they have resorted to besmirching the good governor by suggesting she is trailer trash because she wore funny earrings in Mississippi.   Since she has five kids she is irresponsible and shortchanging her family by taking this opportunity to become Vice President of the United States.   Can you imagine any female Democratic candidate being presented this way by the MSM?   The femi-nazis would freak!

When mistakes and shortcomings are revealed in Democratic candidates they are packaged by the MSM as human and growing characteristics building a candidate’s wisdom enabling good judgment.   The same characteristics in Republican candidates make them unqualified for the job.

The bias has become so lopsided and laughable the only defense the MSM has left is to accuse FOX News of being a right wing smear network which is anything but fair and balanced deflecting focus away from their corrupt actions.

The funniest thing about this ridiculous news coverage is the MSM assertion that they are concerned about experience.   If they were they wouldn’t be supporting Barack Obama.

Regardless, experience is a valuable commodity, but like spice, a little can go a long way.   If you are bright and grounded to the American principles that individual liberty is paramount, and government authority exists to protect that liberty, experience will blend with these good fundamental precepts to develop wisdom and a comprehensive understanding of the machinery which makes America work.

On the other hand, if you are wedded to the idea that America is an inherently unfair place that needs fixin’, no amount of experience or intellect will guide you to protect the institutions and traditions which have caused America to become the land which offers more opportunity and more possibility than any other.

In the end, elections are always about one thing, ideology.   Democrats will always vote for the guy who vilifies wealth that comes through hard work and dedication (suggesting these successes are only garnered by corrupt practice subjugating proletariat workers), who promises to increase taxes only on rich people, and who endeavors to give more power to bureaucrats.

Republicans will vote for those most likely to protect the Constitution of the United States.

Campaign outcomes hinge on those moderate voters in the middle who haven’t a clue about politics, policy, ideology, or even how their vote will affect their lives, and that is why style and empty rhetoric can overcome substance.

This election, the Constitutional gatekeepers are represented by an ex-POW who learned hard to appreciate his country, and a charismatic female fireball who can boast the nation’s highest gubernatorial approval rating and who apparently lives in an old broken down single-wide.

  1. I love the quotes at the top of the page…. i got another one for you.

Those who hammer their guns into plows, will plow for those who do not.” Thomas Jefferson

  2. Good column. Great looking site. I like the changing quotes too. That said, while I love to see Palin taking attention away from Obama and putting it on conservative principles, I’m already getting tired of it – not tired of her, but all the coverage.

  3. I never wanted to know about Obama’s $300 suit or McCain’s $500 shoes. Can the media cover anything without turning it into a mess usually reserved for gawking at celebrities?

  4. “Republicans will vote for those most likely to protect the Constitution of the United States.”

Rubbish. They voted George W. Bush in! TWICE!

  5. Matt,

Nice post -full of thought… well it must be so easy being a “progressive” . You just get to throw out outlandish statements like “Karl Rove Kills Babies and dips them in chocolate at The Melting Pot”

Why don’t you DOCUMENT how Geoge Bush violated the Constitution. THEN tell US why a with both the House and Senate controlled by socialist (along with an evenly matched supreme court) that they have NOT brought charges or presented evidence of such action?

Tell us Matt. Or go back to the DailyKooks or MoveOn.org.

  6. Bush declared war without the approval of congress.
Article One of the US Constitution:
    The Congress shall have power

    To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water;

  7. My mistake! I forgot that there was no actual declaration of war, and that the Executive passed over Congress entirely!

  8. President Bush hardly ignored congress. As far as I can tell or recall, the last formal declaration of war was in WW2. So are you telling me all the presidents who were in office during our many conflicts were stomping on the constitution like evil bush and cheney?

Are you kidding? And if you believe that he did violate the constitution why doesn’t that hypocrit Pelosi and whiny hack Reid do something about it? Are they or are they not LEADERS? They control the house and senate as a reminder? Where is their action?

There isn’t any because there aren’t any grounds for it. Also notice that your favorite marxist poster boy B. Hussein Obama has toned down his anti ware hysterical rhetoric himself.

I figure it’s because he just realized, “holy shit, I might be president. I must now grow up and stop acting like some ignorant Code Pink bitch or stupid ass college activist because I may have to carry out grave and serious duties.”

  9. Sarah Palin MUST be something special. The democrats seem to think so anyway. They’re ever so worried she might not have enough time for her special needs child if she were to embark upon the role of VP of this great nation.
Thusly she must be a horrible horrible mother and slackard to abandon her parenting obligations and also not worthy of your votes either (though that never crossed their minds for an instance) thats right, its aaaaallllll about the kids.

Imagine that….liberals are finally concerned about FAMILY VALUES! are pigs flying or what?
I never thought I’d live to see the day.
They must be in big trouble to resort to something so repulsive to their charcteristically Sodom and Gamorah-esque lifestyles as “concern for her family unit”. You gotta be kiddin me, everyone knows the liberal high water mark of family values is best represented by WILD BILL getting his noodle serviced under the oval office desk while dunking cigars in an interns inkwell and snorting coke off her fat jiggly breastcles.

I think I’m gonna have to call bullshit on this one.

  10. On a positive note that idiot Keith Olbermann lost his little election coverage gig.

The first time I saw his show I thought it was a joke as in some kind of sarcastic comedy central routine. After a few minutes of watching this clown I realized he was serious.

I have never seen such an over the top ass clown in my life in such a visible job.

And MSNBC wonders why their brand SUCKS?
It’s because your programming is so absolutely biased that it is nauseating.

Another thought – it would be interesting if someone could take a stab at producing an estimate of how much (in dollar value) our mainstream media’s infatuation with all things left wing is worth to the socialists.

How much would the messiah have to pay to get the kind of coverage and influence on his presidential campaign that the media heaps on America? It is pure drivel parading around as news.

There have been more questions asked about Sarah Palin in 6 days than there have been on Obama in 6 months.

  11. First things first.

Without a formal declaration of war, it is unconstitutional. Yes, this means that Eisenhower and JFK and LBJ and all the others defied the Constitution. Raul asked for an example of Bush defying the Constitution and I gave one. I never said that it was right or wrong, but that it was a clear example of defying the Constitution.

It is too late to do anything about Bush defying the Constitution, not that illegally declaring war is enough to oust him anyway. Anything his administration [not he himself] did that could be unconstitutional has not been fully investigated yet, in large part because it’s considered national security top secret crap [like the illegal NSA wiretapping].

On top of that, the Democrats are far from an organized, unified party [despite your fears of a VAST MARXIST CONSPIRACY]. Dennis Kucinich introduced a motion to impeach Cheney and nobody followed through with it. There’s not enough concrete evidence to impeach either Cheney or Bush, because if they have done something wrong, they’re stretched the definition of legal action. Note Scalia’s position that torture is not a cruel and unusual punishment because “what are they being punished for?” You’re not going to get anyone impeached based solely on rhetoric unless your party is regimented and organized, like the Republicans circa 1998.

As for your Obama snark; I never said I liked him. I repeatedly say the exact opposite on this very site: he’s full of hot air and never says anything with content. And its most likely that he’s changed his war position for the same reason any politician would; the war seems to be turning around and he wants to win the votes of re-moralised Americans.

  12. Johnny:

Olbermann and O’Reilly may be embarrassments to their profession, but at least their constant bickering and petty slap fights bring smiles to our children’s faces.

  13. Raul Reddy,

To be honest, I’m tired of trying to debate with people who come up with such lines as:

“Also notice that your favorite marxist poster boy B. Hussein Obama has toned down his anti ware hysterical rhetoric himself.” – Raul Reddy

“Sarah Palin MUST be something special” – Johnny McB

    …or even this gem:

“Republicans will vote for those most likely to protect the Constitution of the United States.” – Jim.

So for now all you will get are tempestuous one liners, sorry.

  14. Another thing

Liberals do care about “family values”; they care about the well-being of their children and loved ones etc. You would be hard-pressed to find a liberal who did not care about his or her family. What liberals tend not to do is politicize the family. Just because they are not trying to legislate nuclear families into existence does not mean that they do not value the family. And no, you can not cite gay marriage/divorce/two working parents!!/adoption as examples of liberals hating on marriage, because we all know that conservatives do the same things [maybe not gay marriage, but then, there ARE non-Christian conservatives]. I mean, does anyone here really think that every liberal household is a broken den of sin and every conservative home is a slice of heaven pie?

  15. But Matt,

    B. Hussein Obama is a marxist and he has toned down his anti-war stance.

That is not a tempestuous one line but just the truth.

  16. Crumble,
Family values is apparently an entity which can only exist through government intervention.
Mandatory legislation to aprise 13 year olds in school that homosexuality is just an “alternative lifestyle” like choosing Coke over Pepsi is an agenda driven load o’ shit designed to normalize an un-normal activity. It exists alright, but if you opt for it, it just may destroy your life as most people (rightly or wrongly) are quite judgemental about said lifestyle. That should also be presented in the intrest of fair play, but no that would be discriminatory. So well meaning liberals will ram it down our throats with legislation just like they will do to the “rich” with ungodly taxation because both will have to be wrenched from our cold dying claws…Some freedom of choice.

Why not let the chips just lay where they fall. Homosexuality is previlent enough in todays society where it can be excepted or discarded at ones descretion as they evolve enough to make such distinctions naturally and at their own pace.

People like to make their own decisions in life, who is qualified more than you or I to dictate what is and isn’t a family value.

As far as taxes go who could argue with a flat tax? logically there is no predjudice involved in the equasion – no human element to muddy the waters with flawed ideologies. Fair from top to bottom!

Achieving equality by dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator has always been the signature of liberal intervention.

    P.S. Obama is toast!

P.S. again, I’m no McCain fan but that hot little number who can gut a moose has stolen my vote, thats how shallow I am.

P.S. once more, that Obama/Biden ticket couldn’t appear more like Osama/Binladen if you tried.
Didn’t anyone on his team do a market analysis for godsake? Even McDonalds would do that before launching say…a Mcmuslim burger.

(not that there’s anything wrong with that)

  17. Homosexuality is not “normal” [it’s not the norm/average/most common sexual relation] but it is not necessarily unhealthy or unnatural. There’s nothing wrong with the act itself, but many gay men [and women? I do not know] live relatively irresponsible and frivolous lives [disclaimer; not all, probably not most, I really do not know, but many are into the party scene and all sorts of dumb adolescent things]. But then, being an irresponsible ecstasy-popping heterosexual raver is dangerous too.

If you’re going to accuse liberals of cramming their values down other people’s throats because they teach that homosexuality is OK in schools, you can’t leave out the conservatives who force their values down other people’s throats with abstinence education and other such malarkey.

“Why not let the chips just lay where they fall. Homosexuality is previlent enough in todays society where it can be excepted or discarded at ones descretion as they evolve enough to make such distinctions naturally and at their own pace.”

This is the way it should go. Schools though, take responsibility for making sure students do not hold unreasonable biases when they enter the working world. Judging someone based entirely on race or sex or sexual orientation is counter-productive [like firing someone from an assembly line because they vote Democrat]. Schools do not tell kids to become gay or to accept that gay is awesome. They don’t have a strong enough influence to do so if they tried. They just say not to judge someone’s character based on their sexual orientation [feel free to judge gay as bad, but don’t judge a person based solely on one trait]. Note that there are also “feminist” teachings at schools [no means no etc etc]. Hopefully in the near future it will become unnecessary for schools to have this sensitivity training [do they really do it for racism anymore? Maybe an assembly or two but I think most Americans have gotten past the race issue].

    Sorry for the big paragraphs.

  18. “Achieving equality by dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator has always been the signature of liberal intervention.”

Not really, that is itself ideology “muddying the waters”.

“P.S. once more, that Obama/Biden ticket couldn’t appear more like Osama/Binladen if you tried.”

    Hahaha, that’s awesome.

  19. Abstinence education is hardly malarkey. It should be the goal for young kids who CAN’T understand the ramifications of their actions and CAN’T take care of results of their, um, lack of abstinence. When kids have kids the result is often another democratic voting family or, uh, democratic voting ‘baby daddy and so on. Because now they need others to come in and take care of their personal problems.

That said, it is unrealistic to assume that teenagers will not be sexually active. Absolutely 100% unrealistic so they should be provided with education and so on.

But Crumb is right about conservatives pushing their moral agenda down others throats as well. True conservatives would want the government to get the hell out of peoples lives.

I cringe when the right to lifers get on their high horse, not because I don’t believe in their underlying premise, because I do. As I told my mother, who is a staunch evangelical, that issue is a political hand grenade and it needs to be buried.

And this is why…to agree with the right to lifers you have to believe in a certain theology…mine, that life begins at conception. But that is MY belief and it may not be my Hindu neighbors. So what right do I have to force my Christian beliefs upon him and his family or an agnostic or aethiest woman? NONE.

Let the Lord deal with issues of this sort of morality, not Jerry Falwell. I am in no place to judge the private actions of others.

In matters of politics stick to the Constitution, not the Bible, Koran, Wiccan manual or any other religious text.

  20. Raul Reddy,

“B. Hussein Obama is a marxist and he has toned down his anti-war stance.”

Please tell me which Obama positions are marxist.

  21. I won’t. There is no need to. If you don’t think B. Obama is a marxist or leans towards marxist doctrines then you probably don’t think our mainstream network news channels are overwhelmingly biased toward the democratic party. And as such you are a victim of the mainstream media’s propaganda and you are too drunk on the Kool-Aid to even bother talking about it.

  22. “Abstinence education is hardly malarkey. It should be the goal for young kids who CAN’T understand the ramifications of their actions and CAN’T take care of results of their, um, lack of abstinence. When kids have kids the result is often another democratic voting family or, uh, democratic voting ‘baby daddy and so on. Because now they need others to come in and take care of their personal problems.”

Actually I uh agree with this. I just don’t think that abstinence education works, and the stories I’ve heard are actually really abusive and very Christian in the cruel way [judgment and brimstone and shame above all]. It obviously pushes Christian values and judgments on people who are not Christian or very devout anyway.

I’m glad you’re A-Ok with safe sex education, I’ve had some really bewildering debates with people who promote abstinence education instead.

That post of yours was pretty much A and I respect your position.

  23. “I just don’t think that abstinence education works, and the stories I’ve heard are actually really abusive and very Christian in the cruel way [judgment and brimstone and shame above all]. It obviously pushes Christian values and judgments on people who are not Christian or very devout anyway.”

Any abstinence education program in a public school type of forum should never even mention Christianity of a feeling a “shame”. Christianity has no place in public school, or any other religion for that manner outside of a strictly historical or social studies format.

It should be focused only upon abstinence because “if A happens, B can happen and if B happens all of these other things can happen and next thing you know you are living in a trailer park with black eye from your abusive boyfriend and scratching off lottery tickets.”

It should be focused on letting young people know that an active sex life before they are psychologically mature enough to handle such matters can have implications upon taking full advantage of opportunities in their life.

That said we all know they are physiologically capable of sex and knowing that we should provide resources to them to make informed decisions.

Sex ain’t going away. To stick your head in the sand and say NO! is a losing proposition.

  24. “I won’t. ”

Haha nice to see you squirm, Raul. He’s not a Marxist at all and you know it. Just admit it, go on…

  25. Yeah, that paragraph smells distinctly of “Well if you don’t believe he is a Marxist then you must not buy into ANY right-wing conspiracy theories! I bet you read BOOKS!”
